December 13
Final day of core analysis training and second part of the Team Leader Meeting with the final clarification of finances for TSU and GTU. At noon time we had to leave to reach the airport at Kutaissi.
December 12
We finally organized all cores and left it for final packing at the Warehouse of Enguri.
After lunch we visited the Engurhesi Archive together with the students to check for geologic maps. We showed the ladies who are responsible for the archiving how they can download the observation data gained in the DAMAST projects which had been used for the workshops and training within the DAAD-SDG Caucasus project, in order to integrate that in their archive…. This is contribution to sustainability of information material for this system-relevant big infrastructure. In the late afternoon students helped for translating our discussion during the meetings with Levan Mebonia and the Team Leader meeting with Nino Tsereteli from TSU, Gia Kalabegishvili from GTU und Andreas Schenk from KIT.
December 11
Today we went on sorting the core boxes to transport them for further analysis to Karlsruhe. Mirza and the team of Engurhesi helped to pack them on pallets, including weighing.
The rest of the day we do core analysis in hotel Enguri to analyse as many core pieces as possible. Because tomorrow the rest has to be packed.
December 9–10
Thomas Röckel and Birgit Müller took the flight on December 9 from Memmingen to Kutaisi and arrived there early on December 10 (1.20 a.m.) where they have been picked up by Zaza who drove them to the Hotel in Potskho, where upon arrival (4 a.m.) Zizo was waiting for them.
On December 10th the drill core boxes in the warehouse of Engurhesi had been checked and sorted for wells Gia 1 in order to prepare them for the analysis on structures such as natural faults, induced faults, filled veins etc. Happily we found core boxes that had been missing previously and that provide the link between sections of the borehole. Student Mishko and Thomas investigated the first boxes that had been transported to the hotel.
We had a look on the drill site of Rustams crew. Drilling is done for rehabilitation work preparation.
